Gaetano Colajanni is the Chair of Harmony at the Conseratorio di stato "V Bellini" of Palermo, Italy, as well as distinguished professor of composition and orchestral literature.He has also served as professor of orchestral conducting at the Conservatorio "A. Scontrino" at Trapani. Maestro Colajanni was the first conductor ever to acquire the position of artistic director of the international Festival Voci Nuove Per La Lirica "In Pallina (as presided over by tenor Jose Carreras), the "G.Bizet" Festival of Palermo, and the Artisti Associati di Bruxelles.The maestro has also attended numerous commissions for other international festival, collaborated with the Italian Culture Institute in Bruxelles, and finished various CD recordings. For the CIMS (the Centre for Musical Initiatives in Sicily), on the occasion of the Mediterranean Musical Conference dedicated to works by contemporary composers, Maestro Colajanni directed several concerti which have been recorded on CD and transmitted to Greek, Albanese, Libanese, Tunisian, Maltesian, Spanish, Egyptian, Israeli, Cipriotian. and Italian television stations. In 1987 Gaetano Colajanni founded the Association Accademia Musicale Siciliana, as president and head conductor of the lyric symphonic orchestra, resulting in countless tours in several countries, including U.S.A. (Washington DC., New York at Carnegie Hall, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, Orlando), obtaining a great welcome and official acceptance from the American Senate in Massachusetts. Furthermore, Maestro Colajanni has conducted many concerts in Japan (Osaka-Suzuka) and in France (Lyon-Deauville). He has successfully maintalned his role as resident conductor in affiliation with the E.A. Teatro Massimo Opera of Palermo, leading the Alexsandro Scarlatti Orchestra of RAI Television of Naples, the Philharmonic Orchestra in Russe (Bulgaria), the Bulgarian Opera Orchestras of Pleven (in V Bellini's "Norma") and Burgas (in the "Barber of Seville"), the Palermo di Scena Festival featuring Arturo Sandoval, the E.A.O.S.S. Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Orchestra Filarmonica di Stato Rumena di Oradea, and the Hanager String Orchestra of Cairo-Egypt at the Opera theater. In 1998, Gaetano Colajanni conducted the Orchestra Festival Sinfonietta Umbria at Carnegie Hall In New York., Up coming performances include, notable venues in Bahia Blanca, Argentina with the Orchestra Sinfonica Provincial, as well as concerts in Libanon, Spain, Portugal. Canada and USA. He conducted Verdi's "Traviata" at Circle Royal in Bruxelles and in Bulgaria. He carried out a tournée in Tashkent where he conducted the Orchestra Sinfonica of state of Uzbekistan in "Turkestan" theatre. Maestro Colajanni conducted also many concerts with the Russian Philarmonic Orchestra "P. Ciakowski" di Volgograd (Ex Stalingrado). Recently , in Zafferana Etnea (CT), the "Polifemo d'argento" ( silver Polyphem ) was given to him as Sicilian artist who excelled not only in Italian musical sphere but especially in foreign field. In Amman, to commemorate King Hussein of Jordania, he formed and conducted the "Mediterranean Orchestra for peace" in front of the royal family, the Foreign Secretary Lamberto Dini and in the presence of many national and international authorities. He conducted three performances of Verdi s "Nabucco" at the Circle Royal in Bruxelles and two concerts in Paris where he performed Mozart's "Requiem".Maestro Colajanni just after returning from a tournée in Spartanburg where he conducted the "Spartanburg Chamber Orchestra" and the "Converse Sinfonietta" at Twichell Auditorium. He is the artistic director of publishing and recording house "Panastudio Productions".
