Biography

Mezzo-soprano Johanne Patry performs and records extensively in her native Quebec. This year, Ms Patry has presented two concerts for Zerf Productions, a concert of opera arias and "The Power and the Glory", a concert of sacred art songs, where she was co-Music Director. Furthermore she collaborated with Panayoti Karoussos in his new opera "The Light of Christianity" to be performed next season. In 2010, she is soloist with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Montreal, interpreting works by Beethoven, Kodaly and Fauré, and Handel`s oratorio Esther and an evening of Italian opera with Brian Brice and Carmina Choir, as well as interpreting the role of Thérèse in Lucas and Cécile at the St-Eustache opera festival this summer.

Other recent performances include "Alexander the Great" by Panayoti Karoussos, Hector Berlioz "Les Nuits d'Eté", Baba "The Medium" and in a rarely performed song cycle, "The Confession Stone", by Canadian composer Robert Fleming. In addition, she has presented most of the great sacred works including Mozart's "Requiem" and Bach's "Passions" and "Magnificat", and Handels "Messiah".

Ms Patry is a founding member of the highly acclaimed trio, Amaryllis, where she combines vocal and instrumental skills (classical guitar and recorder) in early music song interpretation.

La mezzo-soprano Johanne Patry se produit régulièrement sur les scènes Québécoises. Cette année Madame Patry a présenté deux concerts avec les Productions Zerf : un concert d'airs d'opéra ainsi que « Le pouvoir et la gloire  » : un concert de chants sacrés ou elle était la co-directrice musicale. Elle a aussi collaboré avec Panayoti Karoussos dans son nouvel opéra : « La lumière du christianisme  » qui sera produit lors de la prochaine saison. Durant l’été 2010, elle interprétera le rôle de Thérèse dans l'opéra Lucas et Cécile de Quesnel. ( FestivalOpéra de Saint-Eustache)

Ses récentes prestations incluent l'opéra "Alexandre le grand" de Panayoti Karoussos (octobre 2007) , "Les nuits d'été" d'Hector Berlioz, le rôle de Baba du "Medium" de Menotti et le cycle de mélodies rarement présenté sur scène : "The Confession Stone", du compositeur Canadien Robert Fleming. Dans le domaine de l’oratorio, Madame Patry a été soliste du "Requiem" de Mozart , le "Magnificat" et la "Passion" de Bach ainsi que le Messie de Handel.

Madame Patry est l'une des fondatrices de l'acclamé trio Amaryllis, ou elle allie ses habiletés vocales et instrumentales ( guitare classique, flûte à bec ) dans l'interprétation de la musique ancienne.
