Recent performances for American baritone TIMOTHY LAFONTAINE included a return to Fresno Grand Opera to sing Ping in their production of Puccini's Turandot, the title role in Gianni Schicchi for Skylight Opera Theatre, Germont in Verdi's La Traviata with the Hudson Opera Theater and the role of Sharpless in Madama Butterfly with the Harrisburg Opera. This season he is scheduled to sing Amonasro in Aida with the Hudson Opera Theater and the title role in Verdi's Rigoletto with Harrisburg Opera. Previous performances include the title role in Verdi's Rigoletto with Opera Ginasio di Portugal, Opera Orchestra of New York's performance of Donizetti's Marino Falliero in the role of Steno, Dr. Bartolo in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia for the Produçao Exmovere Festival in Lisbon, Frank in Strauss' Die Fledermaus for Fresno Grand Opera and the role of Il Pricipe in Opera Orchestra of New York's Young Artist performance of Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur. Additional roles performed include Marcello in La Boheme, Onegin in Eugene Onegin, Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana and Leporello in Don Giovanni. He made his Carnegie Hall debut singing the role of Méru in Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots with Opera Orchestra of New York. He sang the role of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor for the Orchestral Society of Philadelphia, Dr. Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Seville for the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte for the Harrisburg Opera and Gubetta in Lucretia Borgia with Opera Orchestra of New York. Mr. Lafontaine also enjoys an active career in concert and oratorio. Recent engagements include a recital at the Teatro Gymnasio and a Verdi Concert at the Geronimo Monastery both in Lisbon, Portugal, Rossini's La Petite Messe Solennelle with Montreal's L'Orchestre Symphonique du Nouveau Monde and Verdi's Requiem with the Queens College Chorus and Symphony. He sang Orff's Carmina Burana with the Hilton Head Symphony and the Kennet Symphony Orchestra, Puccini's Messe di Gloria with the Great Neck Choral Society, Rossini's La Petite Messe Solennelle with the New Haven Chorale and an Evening of Opera Arias and Scenes with the Pro Arte Chorale. During the Mozart Bicentennial at Lincoln Center, Mr. Lafontaine sang the baritone solo in Mozart's Waisenhausmesse with the Goliard Consort. He has sung the baritone solo in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Brooklyn Performing Arts, Bach's Kaffee Kantate with the Virginia Beach Pops Orchestra, Handel's Messiah with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Chorus and Handel's Samson and Alexander's Feast with the Great Neck Choral Society. He is a regular soloist for the New York Choral Society's Summer Sings, performing such works as Mendelssohn's Elijah, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Brahm's Ein Deutsches Requiem.
